Octopus Hairdo - version 2

     I chose to create another variation on the woman with octopus hair. I think this one has the potential to cause a delicious frisson in the viewer due to the surrealistic nature of it. On a simplistic level it relates to remix culture in the sense that the objects were taken from a preexisting source of images designed to be used in this way, but its also a good example of requiring the viewer to stop, even if only briefly, to wonder exactly why these two images were combined in this way. There have been other human animal hybrids all throughout history, even a notable Disney villain who was half woman, half octopus, and my brief glance at google tells me that Laurana is a D&D character, so it turns out that there is an added dimension of meaning, specifically the appropriation of a pop culture figure for the purpose of creating an artistic piece/statement. I personally have never seen quite this exact idea, and I feel that my interest in it will be shared.
